ABSTRACT
Since 2001, Sukolilo landfill where located in eastern of Surabaya, has undergone over the function / rehabilitation phases. Phase 1 is the TPA A has been converted into residential areas. Phase 2 is the TPA B has been converted into terminal, village hall and the city park of Tematik (Sakura), where some areas are still a vacant land. Phasa 3 is the TPA C which is still in the form of open land and some of the area is still used as a garbage dump. Land conversion at Sukolilo Landfill has affected the subsurface characteristics that influence the spread of leachate, it is necessary to study of characterization of the subsurface. Leachate is the liquid pollutant as the result of garbage decomposition which spreading can be seen through the aquifer layer over the function of the landfill area. Geophysical studies have been conducted with VES (Vertical Electric Sounding) and resistivity (Res-2D) using Schlumberger configuration, to describe the current subsurface lithology and information dissemination patterns leachate which is based on the electrical characteristics of the Earth's subsurface of areas phase 1,phase 2, and phase 3. The correlation of both methods are represented the subsurface condition of the former landfill Sukolilo's current post-rehabilitation and the rehabilitation area leachate's disemenation pattern. The results of this study are used as consideration in the development of spatial and waste management systems as landfill management efforts to reduce the negative environmental impacts towards a better indonesia.
